How To Get Witch Crest Silksong And Where To Find It
Unlocking new combat styles in Hollow Knight: Silksong allows players to adapt Hornet's abilities to tough boss battles and exploration challenges. Among the unique items available, the Witch Crest stands out as a powerful reward that completely transforms how Hornet wields her needle into a sweeping, life-draining whip. Finding this crest requires completing a multi-step questline spanning several key regions in Pharloom.
Starting the Prerequisites in Shellwood
Before you can claim the Witch Crest, you must first build a relationship with Greyroot in Shellwood. Meet Greyroot near the central areas of Shellwood and complete their initial quest, Rite of the Pollip, by recovering six Pollip Hearts scattered around the zone. Finshing this task sets the stage for the main quest chain needed to obtain the crest.
Finding the Twisted Bud in Bilewater
Once the initial quest is complete, make your way down to the late-game region of Bilewater. Traverse through the lower sections near the Whispering Vaults to retrieve an essential quest item known as the Twisted Bud. Delivering this item back to Greyroot triggers the Rite of Rebirth event, which inflicts Hornet with a temporary curse.
Seeking Cures and Completing Infestation Operation
While afflicted by the curse, travel to Greymoor to consult the surgeon Yarnaby. Yarnaby will task you with the Infestation Operation quest, which requires venturing into Sinner's Road to purchase Steel Spines from local merchants. Bringing these items back to Yarnaby completely cleanses Hornet of the affliction and rewards her with the Witch Crest.
Understanding the Powers of the Witch Crest
Equipping the Witch Crest replaces Hornet's standard attacks with wide, sweeping needle strikes. In addition to changing your attack range, binding with this crest summons roots that leech health directly from surrounding enemies. This playstyle offers strong defensive utility during prolonged encounters, making it an excellent reward for finishing the questline.
